Parents here in New Hampshire may be very encouraged by the findings of a recent report on child passenger safety.
The report was by SafeWise. The report looked at NHTSA crash data to compare the different states when it comes to child passenger fatality rates.
The New England region generally did very well in the report. The report found the region to be the country’s safest for child passengers.
The report also pointed to New Hampshire individually being among the safer places for child passengers. In fact, the state was found to be tied with Rhode Island for having the lowest child passenger fatality rate in the entire nation. Based on the data the report looked at, both states had a rate of zero.

While these are very positive findings, it is important for New Hampshire parents to remember that there remain plenty of dangers for child passengers. There is always the chance for car crashes to occur.
There are a range of steps parents can take towards protecting their kids out on the roads. This includes:
- Being vigilant about their driving conduct when their kids are in the car
- Making sure their kids are properly buckled up when in the car
- Making sure that, if their child is of an age/size where a car seat is appropriate, to have their child use a car seat that is the right fit for them.
- Making sure that any child car seat used is properly installed
